Woman in her 80s dies after being struck by truck in Co Roscommon

GardaĆ­ are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A PEDESTRIAN IN her 80s has died after being struck by a truck in Co Roscommon.

It happened in Frenchpark at the junction of the N5 and R361 at around 4:45pm yesterday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to the mortuary atĀ UniversityĀ Hospital Galway,Ā where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

There were no other injuries reported.

A technical examination has since been conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has reopened to traffic.

GardaĆ­ meanwhile are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 4:30pm and 5:00pm are asked to make this footage available.
